I Forgive

"I forgive", sweet sounding words
soothing an aching heart.
"I forgive", bringing new life
to a dying spirit.
"I forgive", a song of renewal
piercing the walls of darkness
and dissipating the pain within.
"I forgive", a gift of freedom
to the one who has been hurt
as he lets go of the resentment
that was harbored in his soul.
I come to you to bare my heart
and take your hand in mine
as I look into your fearful eyes
and tell you that, "I forgive"
