Psalms 34:22
We are often disappointed, and our sense of fairness is offended, by what we see as a perversion of justice. We may see
honest, decent people who struggle and who are beset with a variety of hardships. On the other hand, there are people who
are deceitful and exploit others for their own gain whom seem to be enjoying unlimited success, basking in luxury.
We should be aware that our perspective is limited. Even as mature adults, our concept of time is rather restricted. Young
children cannot understand "next week" or even "tomorrow." We can conceptualize months, years, decades, and even several centuries.
Eternity, however, is beyond our grasp. Even a millennium may be a bit vague.
What has remained today from those who profited from evil doing two hundred years ago? Their ill-begotten riches have gone
into oblivion along with them. But we can still benefit today from the teachings of the wise men that lived two thousand years
ago.
The fact that we may see wrongdoing succeed does not at all disprove the fact that evil is self-destructive. Given our
rather brief sojourn on earth, we may not personally observe this, but a deeper sense of history confirms the truth of the
psalmist's statement.
Put your trust in YHVH's Eternal Justice.
