"What will he use to cover himself? If he cries to Me, then I will listen, because I
am compassionate." Exodus 22:26
The Torah says that if we take an item as security from a poor person, which he may need
for his personal use, such as a quilt, we must return it to him before nightfall. The implication is that if we
do not return his quilt and he complains to YHVH, then YHVH will punish us.
When we show compassion to the poor, we also earn YHVH's compassion. |
