"Moses said, I am not eloquent, my speech is impaired and my tongue is slow." (Ex 4:10)
Logically, Moses was right. Why did YHVH choose a tongue-tied messenger? Pharaoh was very stubborn about
freeing the Jews from Egyptian bondage, and after YHVH hardened his heart he became even more reluctant. Only
because of the wonders and miracles performed by YHVH, the Israelites were able to leave Egypt.
If Moses had been a renowned articulate and eloquent speaker, some people would have erroneously credited Israel's liberation
from Egypt to his power of persuasion. Therefore, YHVH selected Moses who was not eloquent. Thus, his power of speech
would never be seen as the cause for Israel's redemption.
